Is This Nostalgia?

This piece was created during my time in the AUArts Student’s Association’s HEAR/D Studio Residency. The residency encourages participants to create work based on themes of mental health and resiliency. At the end of the residency there’s a gallery show located in the AUArts Main Mall.

I collaged, edited, masked, and altered these illustrations to create new shapes and patterns, simulating the passage of time in my memories as they warp and become distorted from reality. I tend to remember the best memories, and forget the worst aspects, feeling wistful for a time that's past and forgetting to appreciate the current moment.
