Cosmica Magazine
We are a science fiction and fantasy writing magazine born out of a love for stories and worlds unknown. We offer writing advice to help you practice writing your own stories, as well as recommendations for books and authors, creative writing from our community, and highlights on up-and-coming writers. We want you to explore other universes, write your own, and above all: ignite your imagination.
This project was made collaboratively with Kim Claussen.
Kim and I designed various departments for the magazine, as well as both individually being responsible for designing and illustrating our own feature articles. For my feature I wrote about ways that writers and creatives can start planning the worldbuilding of their story, complete with prompts and writing exercises. I designed the layouts to feel unique from the rest of the magazine, while still feeling cohesive to our visual identity. All illustrations were created by me using Adobe Photoshop and the Procreate app, while I created the layout designs in Adobe InDesign.
The department articles of the magazine feature recurring sections between issues, which my partner Kim Claussen and I collaborated on. The following spreads are departments that I worked on.
